The trip by the Carpathian Tram

Styi – Morshyn – Bolekhiv – Hoshiv - Vyhoda

An exciting four hour trip around Carpathians by narrow-gauge railway, which was founded in 1898, in the period of Austro-Hungarian Empire, is the main goal of this excursion. The gauge of the Carpathian tram is about 750 mm. and is almost two times narrower than traditional European one. Slightly rocking in tiny coaches you will enjoy the magnificent landscapes of mountains and rivers, wonderful railway bridges and picturesque canyons. And maybe we will even see “the tsar of the Carpathians” – the brown bear.

We will feast our eyes with Carpathian landscapes having occupied the soft seats in the handcar, in the tiny closed coach with wooden benches, in the coach with windows without glass or in completely open platform if the weather is fine. During the railway trip several stops are planned. We will see the unique hanging swamp “Shyrkovets” together with three hundred old pine trees, we will taste the mineral water “Horyanka” with a sharp oil aftertaste and, if you wish, we can have a dinner at sanatorium, which was used for rehabilitation of soviet cosmonauts. If the weather is fine you can even bath in the cascades of furious waterfalls of Mizun’! So don’t forget to take your swimsuits with you!

Besides that the program of the trip includes visiting the town of Stryi. We will see its most ancient building – the God’s Mother cathedral (XIV c.). In Morshyn we will taste the best drinkable water of Ukraine. Also we will see the lovely square in Bolekhiv and
visit the monastery of Virgin Lady in Hoshiv.
